People always look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them I love being hungry, but it's true. Eating is close to my favourite thing, and eating while really hungry is the most rewarding way to eat.

Now, I'm not certain that the object of fasting in Baha'i is to enjoy food (I in fact know very little about Baha'i at all, and pretty near everything I do know I've learned in the last ten days from you), but it doesn't seem like a terrible side-effect.

Well, people burn about 2500 calories a day, and a pound of weight is about 3500 calories. So if you are only eating one meal a day--lets call that 500 calories input per day--you lose 14000 calories over 7 days, which is 4 pounds. You probably also lose some extra weight due to water loss, since you are taking in less salt and need less water to maintain osmotic balance. So it's probably five pounds, maybe 10 at the outside.
